SLS is recruiting a Professional Learning Events Coordinator

The Professional Learning Events Coordinator role offers an exciting opportunity to work within the SLS team, Leading the coordination of all professional learning activities. The post will cover Scotland, supporting the General Secretary.

You will have an ability to create and set up content for in-person and digital event delivery platforms, be able to plan, implement and manage the user experience journey for speakers and delegates as well as have extensive experience of working with IT systems in general and Microsoft Teams in particular.

The post-holder will be home based although the role involves occasional travel and overnight stays throughout Scotland. IT and mobile phone equipment will be provided.

The post requires the ability to deal with individuals at a senior level. The post will suit applicants with recent experience as leaders of educational institutions or administrators with good experience of school or college management and a strong interest in professional issues.

This is a part time position and is paid on a five-point incremental range from £42,456 to £47,544 starting at £42,456 (which is £16,982 per annum at 0.4 pro rata).

SLS is recruiting a new Administrative and Finance Manager

The School Leaders Scotland (SLS) is the leading professional association for secondary school and college leaders and is affiliated to ASCL (Association of School and College Leaders). We are proud to support and represent more than 1,180 members in secondary and post-16 education who lead their schools and colleges to help to shape the future of the national education system.

  • Administrative and Finance Manager
  • Salary – Manager 1 Grade, Points 37 to 41 plus expenses paid.
  • Part time (28 hours, 0.8FTE). Permanent.
  • Home-based with some travel across Scotland.

SLS is seeking to appoint an Administrative and Finance Manager. This is an exciting, challenging and incredibly rewarding post, as the Manager plays an important role at the heart of the Association.

The successful candidate will be working closely with the Membership Support Officer to deliver outstanding professional secretarial & finance support to the General Secretary and the SLS Core Team and contribute to the development of the Association’s administration services and events. The role offers an exciting opportunity to develop content for online services and marketing campaigns to promote membership, events, and other activities. Educated at least to SCQF Lever 6 (Higher) or demonstrably equivalent standard with relevant vocational / professional qualifications, the post-holder will be expected to have experience of working successfully with senior management.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, commitment to quality and a willingness to work occasionally beyond normal office hours is key.

The post-holder will be home-based although the role involves some travel to attend conferences and meetings.  IT and telephone equipment will be provided.

This is a 0.8 FTE (28 hours per week) post and flexible working requests will be considered.

This role is paid on a five-point incremental range. We offer a very generous package of benefits, including 33 days holiday (26 days pro rata) plus bank holidays and a pension scheme to which the Association contributes 9% of salary. Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses are also covered.

SLS is recruiting a new General Secretary

Salary range £ 93189 – £95497 – £97867

Our current General Secretary, Graham Hutton, will retire at the end of August 2025 and we are now seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to lead the Association from that point. SLS represents Principal Teachers, Depute Headteachers, Resource/Business Managers and Headteachers in Secondary schools throughout Scotland.

As a professional association, SLS has influence at the highest levels and therefore the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the future of Secondary education in Scotland.

The successful candidate will have considerable experience of leading in a Secondary school. We are looking for a dynamic individual whose principal interest is the education and wellbeing of the nation’s young people and the leaders who serve them.

The start date is August 2025 (or by negotiation) and the appointment is for an initial term of 5 years, which may be extended by negotiation. Salary is paid on a three-point salary scale from £93189 – £95497 – £97867 pa, with reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses.
